Charles de Gaulle Airport to Paris by Train: RER B Guide

For Charles de Gaulle Airport to Paris by train, RER B is the local rail service to investigate. First identify your terminal and destination in Paris. The airport also has long-distance rail services, so an airport train platform is not necessarily the platform for central Paris.
Choose the airport station for your terminal
Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 serves the terminal 1 and terminal 3 area through the relevant walking or airport-shuttle connections. Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV serves terminal 2, where walking distances and internal transfers depend on the terminal section. Consult the current airport map, particularly for terminal 2G or if you require step-free access.
Distinguish RER B from the TGV station
The name Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV can appear in both airport navigation and long-distance journey searches. For central Paris, follow signs for RER B and check the Paris-bound service. For a direct long-distance train to another city, use that train’s separate ticket and departure information. The two types of ticket are not interchangeable.
Check the ticket and destination
Use the current airport journey-planning and fare information to select a valid ticket for the complete local trip. Do not assume a basic city ticket or an existing pass covers the airport. At the platform, check the direction, service stops and disruption notices. For the return journey, confirm that the RER B branch serves CDG.
Connect to your Paris destination
Gare du Nord and Châtelet–Les Halles are useful RER B stops to investigate for central connections. For Gare de Lyon, Gare de l’Est or Montparnasse, plan the onward leg explicitly; none should be treated as the same station as Gare du Nord. Include passages, luggage and the onward train’s boarding time.
Allow for flights and engineering work
Before choosing a train after landing, include passport control where applicable, baggage reclaim and the terminal transfer. Check dated RER traffic information, especially for early mornings, late evenings and weekends. Keep an alternative local transport plan if planned works or disruption affects the rail journey.
Airport ticket: the 2026 reference
On 11 October 2026, Île-de-France Mobilités lists the Paris Région <> Aéroports single ticket at €14 full fare and €7 for eligible reduced-fare travellers. It covers the RER B airport journey and permitted métro/RER/train connections for up to two hours without leaving the network. It does not cover buses or trams. Check eligibility and the current price before buying; this is a dated reference, not a France Rails fare quote.
Terminal 1 is not inside the CDG 1 railway station
Use the airport CDGVAL shuttle between Terminal 1 and the Roissypole/CDG 1 station area. Terminal 3 is reached on foot from that station. For Terminal 2, use CDG 2 TGV and follow the airport route for your terminal section. Allow additional transfer time for Terminal 2G.
