Paris Gare du Nord: Eurostar, RER and Station Transfers

Planning diagram: identify your service, follow its specific boarding requirements, then board the correct train. London Eurostar departures involve border and luggage checks; do not apply that process to every other service at Gare du Nord. Eurostar
Paris Gare du Nord combines several kinds of rail travel in one station complex. International departures, domestic trains and local transport do not all use the same access route or boarding process. Identify the service on your ticket before choosing where to go.
Separate London departures from other trains
Eurostar travel to London involves document, border and luggage checks. Follow the recommended station-arrival time and gate-closing deadline for your actual booking. These are different from the departure time itself. Do not apply the London process automatically to every international or domestic train leaving Gare du Nord.
Find the right station area
Use signs and the current station map to distinguish the mainline, Eurostar and suburban or RER areas. Match the train number and route, not simply the word Eurostar or the name of a country. The correct train can have a final destination different from your intermediate stop.
Connect with RER B and the airport
RER B provides a rail connection to investigate for Charles de Gaulle Airport. Check the direction and the listed stops of the actual train: the line has branches. Match the airport station to your terminal and include the terminal transfer. Consult current disruption information before depending on an airport connection.
Transfer to Gare de l’Est or another terminal
Gare de l’Est is a separate station. A walking connection may be practical for some travellers, but stairs, bags and street crossings can change the choice. For Gare de Lyon or Montparnasse, plan local transport with a current journey planner and confirm the required ticket. Leave sufficient time for the onward train’s boarding process.
Prepare for the station environment
Keep travel documents accessible for checks and store other valuables securely. For step-free routes or assistance, confirm arrangements before travel. If an incoming train is delayed, contact the responsible operator or seller about onward options; do not assume a separate ticket gives automatic access to the next train.
